The Plot will Revamp-ire with Déjà-vu on General Hospital

Vampire memories may be swarming in on General Hospital in Port Charles in the city located somewhere in New York.  Those of you who have watched Port Charles from 1997 to 2003, the spin-off show to General Hospital, know that characters such as Sam McCall and John McBain played the parts of Olivia “Livvie” Locke Morley (by Kelly Monoco, 1999–2003) and vampire Caleb Morley (by Michael Easton, 2001, 2002–2003).  Duke Lavery played vampire king Joshua Temple (by Ian Buchanan, 2002-2003), and Lucy Coe (by Lynn Herring, 1997-2003) was their slayer, one of the last in a line of vampire slayers.

Lucy Coe is essentially playing her original General Hospital and Port Charles character, along with a few other key characters like Scott Baldwin (by Kin Shriner, 1997–2000, 2001), and Kevin Collins (by Jon Lindstrom, 1997–2003).  Both Kin Shriner and Jon Lindstrom will be rejoining the cast of General Hospital in late January.

For those of you who are new to the old Port Charles vampire plot, Livvie Locke Morley was the biological daughter of Dr. Kevin Collins.  Dr. Collins came to Port Charles in 1997 to rehabilitate a serial killer, Ryan Chamberlain, who was also his twin brother (both the Dr. Collins and Ryan Chamberlain parts were played by Jon Lindstrom).  Livvie grew up believing her biological mother to be Rachel Locke, a former psychiatrist at General Hospital, but her real mother was Dr. Grace Reese, who had drowned in a car she was in with Dr. Collins.  Livvie also had a twin sister with magical powers, Tess Ramsey (played by Kelly Monoco from 2002–2003).

Caleb Morley first appeared on Port Charles as a priest in 2001, Father Michael Morley, who later revealed his sinister alter-ego, Caleb, the vampire. But Caleb, like most soap opera characters, was also a passionate, deeply conflicted, complicated man, obsessed with Livvie, who resembled his murdered fiancée, Olivia.  Though seductive yet sinister, Caleb also had a side that was vulnerable and loving.  Livvie married Caleb Morley in 2003.

Previously, Livvie dated Chris Ramsey, his brother, Jack Ramsey, and was married to Rafe Kovich in 2002, who was a vampire slayer and Lucy Coe’s distant cousin.  It was Rafe who enabled Caleb’s eventual downfall by helping Lucy Coe and Kevin Collins learn that Michael and Caleb Morley were the same person and a vampire as well.

Livvie also had a one-night stand with Frank Scanlon that resulted in an unborn child.  Remember when Sam McCall gave birth to Sonny Corrintos’ stillborn child on General Hospital?  In the words of Yogi Berra, “It’s déjà-vu all over again.”

  1. dawn says:

so many of these STUPID vampire shows on tv..I will not watch GH while this storyline is on… really…really stupid…….come up with some ORIGINAL IDEAS!!!!!!!!

  2. SandyK says:

Okay. All these old characters and unrealistic story-lines will be the death of GH. Additionally, let our new characters win sometimes in life, not always lose to the predictable story; Maxie having Spinelli’s child instead of LuLu’s and Dante’s. So, I say, Rest in Peace GH, you are dying.

  3. CAROL says:

They keep this up and soooo many are going to get very confused and upset over storyline. They shouldn’t re-mix old shows that very few watched. Too many years have passed..if it was more recent it might make more sense. They should focus on the characters they already have. Bring ROBERT and ROBIN back!!

    • Marsha says:

ITA I hate vampire story lines – as well as the tired old car crashes. I have watched GH for 50 years and I hate to think it will got the way of other soaps but it isn’t looking good. I can’t believe they killed off Jason and don’t recaste him.

  4. cindy says:

now. the thing with GH, and the vampires, are getting a little rediculous! i know they can comeup with something better than that. thats just stupid!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Jan Mau says:

I have watched GH since I was young and my grandmother was watching it. I LOVE this show so much. I watched Port Charles too but the storyline is what killed that one and now to revive that Vampire crap will kill GH as well. Please don’t kill GH with trite story lines and as someone else said, let the key players come out ahead like Lulu and Dante. I do enjoy bringing back a lot of the old characters. Stick with that and stay away from the vampire lame story line. Please GH if you leave I will be heart broken. Watching some 40+ years. Don’t ruin it now!!

  6. Iris says:

Please, please, please bring Jason back. Do whatever needs to be done but please get him back. He and Sam were just starting to get their life back on track and you take him away. This sucks, big time.

  7. Audrina says:

Personally, I enjoyed Port Charles and miss seeing Caleb and Olivia entwined as one. That being said, I was getting tired of the idea of a town of Vampires and the supposed “Angels” drew on my last nerve. I’ve watched General Hospital for over 30 years and there have been some pretty weak story lines but, if handled correctly, I think having Caleb and Olivia Morley could be a good thing.

  8. Debby Caroccia says:

That show was ridiculous and I stopped watching it soon after it started. I love GH and am happy to see some of the old charecters and OLTL actors here, but I will not be watching vampire garbage. I do not watch the show that took the place of AMC, I boycott 7 until 2pm for GH, and I had watched 7 for at least 34 years. It is about 1 year I now watch 2 Y&R never thinking I could get into a new soap (for me) but it is also very good. Alot of AMC actors and now Jason will be coming….YES!!

  9. Tequila says:

I have been watching GH for along time and I feel that before they go back to vampires they should reunite Robin back to her family and Jason needs to come home so he can finally learn the truth about Daniel his son and so that him and Sam can at least have a family after all these years. Also so he can see that AJ is back so he can get things straightened out. Luke and Robert need to come back too. Robert and Luke need to bring Robin back at the Nurses Ball because Patrick deserves to be with someone like Robin or Sabrina not that triffling woman he calls hisself trying to see and I say that because she doesn’t like kids and is jealous of Emma another thing Emma doen’t like her… Just food for thought!!!!!!!!

  10. Lyn says:

Enough of the Lucy Coe stuff who wants to watch that flake. Quit hanging us with Robert and robin bring them back already !!!!!!

  11. Sue says:

I am disappointed in the GH writers who think. by bringing back the vampires, they can save GH. Well, they’re wrong. I’ve watched GH since the very first episode and have loved it, but never cared for Port Charles with all the “paranormal” storylines. History tells us Port Charles didn’t last long and the paranormal was the reason for its downfall. Now the writers want to take GH down this same road. They can’t learn from history, so they are going to repeat it.

  12. Shaun says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I will be gone again! I think they needed to just ignore that vampire phase and move on. Have a moment, honor it BUT MOVE ON!!! There is a reason that PC is no more. If we can suspend reality re Anna, Duke, Robert and everyone else is ALIVE, then we can pretend that vampires didn’t happen. Please don’t do it. Then I will say it’s time for GH to end too.

  13. Sfox says:

I have been a fan of pretty much every incarnation of GH. My SONS actually used to watch Port Charles before they went to school every morning so some of us know those vampire storylines and GH actually did it before it was cool. I love the idea of using the past footage like past life or alternate universe kind of stuff (fan of Dr. Who, too) as long as they keep track with what is happening now. I also HATE the predictable endings to storylines…the stupid ones…like Maxie being pregnant. I can deal with it if they go with the “more than one embryo was implanted” line but if they go with the Spinelli being the daddy thing….OMG! As for Jason, aka Steve Burton leaving the show, actors are actors and they want to do more than one character in their lives. I hate that he left and I miss him terribly but I totally understand why he would want to leave.
GH is still and will remain on my DVR record list. They have had their ups and they have had their downs. They have the potential to be as hot as they were in the 80s. I hope they capitalize on it.

  15. Stacy Harp says:

I think it’s great. Normally I wouldn’t tune into anything vampire, but with Lynn, Jon and the rest, this looks fun!

  16. Jean Lesch says:

Stupid stupid stupid…get back to the good stories. (Not Vampires) This will be the downfall of GH if they keep writing stupid stuff like this. Come on writers at GH what happened to your writing skills.

  17. Suzy says:

Just when I thought GH was really bringing their A-Game by moving forward with stories and not lagging, they bring in Lucy (who I adore). Good move and good storyline going with her reviving and helping the Nurses’ Ball, but did she really have to go there with the vampire story from Port Charles?? It was funny at first when she walked into Kelly’s, but I thought it would have ended there. WHY, writers…. WHY?? Get over it! It was a Bobby Ewing dream!! GH is the only daytime drama left on ABC. Let’s hope it doesn’t go bye-bye like AMC and OLTL.

  18. Vicky says:

Why do you come up with some stupid storylines when ALL these other shows are off the air? Doesn’t that give you a clue that they sucked….. Really, No Vampire Joke Intended..

    • wendy says:

I love Vampire story lines, they are hypnotic and extremely romantic. PC was awesome and way ahead of the times. In fact, the very year they were cancelled they were nominated for several awards. If they had recieved only one award the show would still be on the air. you guys have put up w/nicholas&emily ghostly love story, Alan haunting tracy, now Olivia w/dejavu’s, C’mon give this story line a 2d chance if only to gain the closure PC didn’t get when cancelled in oct 2003.. Besides Michael Easton is sexy as hell w/fangs!

      • wendy says:

PS: I am 49 yr old and started watching GH w/my great grandmother when I was like 4 yrs old, I can remember it being black and white TV, and a very young Steve Hardy and Audry…

  19. Ellen says:

Can’t wait to see some of the old actors come back and reprise their characters! Ive been watching GH since I graduated!

  20. Julie Lomoe says:

I’m delighted with the resurrection of the Port Charles characters and the references to Caleb and Livvie Morley, since I was a big fan of that show. However, I suspect this is a short-term plot line, played mostly for laughs and featuring Lynn Herring as Lucy Coe. I hope you’ll all suspend judgment and give it a chance.

  21. Well I guess that you should bring robin back on board because patrick looks bad. the little girl needs her mother she is so sad. Carla is not doing nothing it:s like she has played out or ran from man too man to much. the vampire sounds good to me something diffrent.

  22. Sam says:

I don’t mind Lucy and the crazy story line with the vampires just don’t have it go any further, don’t make anyone actually be a vampire and don’t let the Lucy story go on forever. She is annoying.

  23. Tracey says:

My family loves the vampire storyline and we’ve been making Caleb jokes since they moved McBain over from OLTL. I’ve been so bored with GH since they shoved the folks from OLTL on it. Anna and Robert and Robin were the only things that kept me watching at all, but now with Lucy Coe finally back and talk of the Nurses Ball and all the fun with the vampires… we’re back to watching as a family again and loving the show.

Keep it up, GH is fun again!

  24. Nikky says:

Thank you for remembering the PC fans! I wish more PC favs could come back to visit.

  25. Linda says:

I watched General Hospital since Luke and Laura got married. I watch the show every day at 2. When I work I record it. They need to bring Robin back and get rid of the doctor that is trying to take her place. The women reminds me of a bucked tooth rabbit. She is sleezy and takes every chance to throw herself at Patrick. She does not like Emma and hates kids even though she is a pediatrics doctor. As for bringing back the old characters that is great. The story line of Caleb and Liv is out there. Do not bring it back. It was weird the first time do not repeat it. I miss Jason also why would you not re-cast a character for him since he is going to YR. Sam and Jason were just getting there life together and then you make him die come on GH come up with better story lines. Have Maxie be pregnant with Spinolis baby would be a good story line. Bring back Robin please.

  26. Kitty says:

I’m disappointed that GH is making the great love story of Caleb and Olivia Morley so campy and foolish, I was hoping for a little more respect. Caleb and Olivia were not just Vampires, they were/are two souls joined together for life … and beyond. Shame on the writers for giving the greatest couple (IMO) since Luke and Laura such dis-service and lack of respect.

  27. Zanne says:

I was a big Port Charles! So upset after it’s 2003 cancellation (the local affiliates wanted their time slot back for advertising revenue). Thank you for the nod to Port Charles. I can’t appreciate it for what it is…a homage to PC. Thanks to the writers for remembering the loyal fans and just shows what great actors Michael Easton, Kelly Monaco and Lynn Herring. “Prince of Darkness”? “A minute ago I was “King of the Vampires, I’ve been demoted”!!!!…lol…

  28. Anna says:

Is this the way they are going to shut down GH and bring that reality hospital show on in its place? Oh, I sure hope not. Although it will be nice to see some of the old characters from past GH episodes, I think the vampire bit should never play into our beloved GH now. Bring back Robin and recast a new person for Jason. Bring back Lucky and Cheybon (forgot how to spell her name), anything other than tired old vampire stuff! I would even like to see Laura back!

  29. Carolyn says:

GH is getting boring, they need to bring robin ack and get rid of Britt

  30. Maggie says:

Please let us not go down that road leave the vampire storys dead and gone keep with what we have been looking forward to the return of Robin and not the return of vampire. Have Maxie pregnant with Lulu and DANTE baby like a twin one she lost and one that survived not Spinlines that will cause to much trouble…that would be a good story line ………..
and by all means bring back Kate although she is the alter of Connie she is kinder I have had enough of Connie

  31. Dawn says:

DON’T DO IT!!! PLEASE!!!! We need Robin and Robert back and closure with the Jason and Sam storyline!!! The writers are dragging these out too long! Very disappointed :-(

  32. Stacey says:

PLEASE NOOOOO! Was a bad storyline on port Charles PLEASE DO NOT BRING IT TO GH!!!

  33. Kelly McCullough says:

I LOVE THAT they are mixing Port Charles Story line with GH and reviving the storyline….I think it is HYSTERICAL!

  34. Kathy says:

I think the vampire story is ok but keep it a short story. I think the role of Jason should be recast there are a lot of good looking manly men who could fill the role and who need to get their careers started. Everyone on soaps has plastic surgery don’t they?

  35. Michaelyn Pappert says:

I could not believe my ears when Lucy Coe called John McBain a vampire!! I feel sorry for people who have no idea about Loving or One Life to Live, cuz they have to be SO LOST!!!!….I’ve been watching these shows since I was in elementary school, so I have lived these soaps for 40 plus years…..They better clue people in, or else they will lose viewers instead of gain them….It would be cool as heck if they could make Sam Livvy and John Caleb in some sort of weird soap opera way….I loved Loving….but then again, I loved Ryans Hope too!!! I hope General Hospital can find a way to be interesting again. This whole Patrick love triangle thing is getting really old….and, I don’t think there is a man alive who could step into Steve Burtons role and pull it off….Look at AJ….how many guys have played him already…and they went way back to get who they have now….It should be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out in the end… very well could be the end if they can’t come up with a solution soon.

  36. Please Please No Vampires it is Stupid, Oh And bring back Jason Please !!!!

  37. Margaret says:

I am not a fan of vampires. I do not like this storyline now nor did I like PC. General Hospital, love romance, doctors, nurses, mobsters, lawyers, crazies, births, deaths ( of the bad guys ), marriages, divorces, and much more, is what we the fans want to see. GH comes into our homes 5 days a week. Please don’t bring the vampire stuff into the soap. Keep it real for me and thousands of other fans.

  38. beau says:

balls to the wall baby….. hell with it, go for gold. why not let the town get overran with vampires….. its the end any way….. lol its growing on me…. hopefully sam and john will do the deed and little vampires will come about. love gh. doesnt matter what you guys do….. good stuff.

  39. Lori says:

You people are absolute IDIOTS if you think you’re gonna go the way of the vampires, not only that, but you changed the theme song, which I HATE. I swear if you keep this up, the ratings will go down, viewership will go down, and you will have no one to blame but yourselves.

  40. Mary says:

Please keep the vampire story line out of GH. Please let Patrich stay away from that bitch. She doesn’t like kids and Emma ran away because of her.Your going to ruin GH and us fans will stop watching.

  41. Dorothy Grindstaff says:

OMG! I am so sad. I don’t care for this vampire storyline. Don’t get me wrong, I love vampires, just not on GH. I dearly hate to quit watching GH as I have been watching for 40+ years. I don’t mind the other stars visiting but there’s a reason they’re no longer on a soap. Now they will contribute to the demise of GH. So sad. I sure hope the writers wise up.

  42. Vicki says:

Not sure if anyone caught the error. Tess was NOT Livvie’s twin. Caleb used his powers to split Livvie into two persona. He split her good and evil sides into two people. That’s why basically good Livvie turned bad. And Tess was innocent and all good. They were eventually integrated back together.

  43. Diane says:

Why doesn’t Soapnet rerun episodes of Port Charles so those of us who never watched can familiarize ourselves with this storyline from the past. I would be interested as I never watched it at the time.
