Vampire memories may be swarming in on General Hospital in Port Charles in the city located somewhere in New York. Those of you who have watched Port Charles from 1997 to 2003, the spin-off show to General Hospital, know that characters such as Sam McCall and John McBain played the parts of Olivia “Livvie” Locke Morley (by Kelly Monoco, 1999–2003) and vampire Caleb Morley (by Michael Easton, 2001, 2002–2003). Duke Lavery played vampire king Joshua Temple (by Ian Buchanan, 2002-2003), and Lucy Coe (by Lynn Herring, 1997-2003) was their slayer, one of the last in a line of vampire slayers.
Lucy Coe is essentially playing her original General Hospital and Port Charles character, along with a few other key characters like Scott Baldwin (by Kin Shriner, 1997–2000, 2001), and Kevin Collins (by Jon Lindstrom, 1997–2003). Both Kin Shriner and Jon Lindstrom will be rejoining the cast of General Hospital in late January.
For those of you who are new to the old Port Charles vampire plot, Livvie Locke Morley was the biological daughter of Dr. Kevin Collins. Dr. Collins came to Port Charles in 1997 to rehabilitate a serial killer, Ryan Chamberlain, who was also his twin brother (both the Dr. Collins and Ryan Chamberlain parts were played by Jon Lindstrom). Livvie grew up believing her biological mother to be Rachel Locke, a former psychiatrist at General Hospital, but her real mother was Dr. Grace Reese, who had drowned in a car she was in with Dr. Collins. Livvie also had a twin sister with magical powers, Tess Ramsey (played by Kelly Monoco from 2002–2003).
Caleb Morley first appeared on Port Charles as a priest in 2001, Father Michael Morley, who later revealed his sinister alter-ego, Caleb, the vampire. But Caleb, like most soap opera characters, was also a passionate, deeply conflicted, complicated man, obsessed with Livvie, who resembled his murdered fiancée, Olivia. Though seductive yet sinister, Caleb also had a side that was vulnerable and loving. Livvie married Caleb Morley in 2003.
Previously, Livvie dated Chris Ramsey, his brother, Jack Ramsey, and was married to Rafe Kovich in 2002, who was a vampire slayer and Lucy Coe’s distant cousin. It was Rafe who enabled Caleb’s eventual downfall by helping Lucy Coe and Kevin Collins learn that Michael and Caleb Morley were the same person and a vampire as well.
Livvie also had a one-night stand with Frank Scanlon that resulted in an unborn child. Remember when Sam McCall gave birth to Sonny Corrintos’ stillborn child on General Hospital? In the words of Yogi Berra, “It’s déjà-vu all over again.”
