Johnny Cash’s Rolls Royce Up for Sale

ABC bought Johnny Cash a 1970 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow LWB as part of opening up the “Johnny Cash Show”. That is sweet of a deal, own show and a free car to boot. Wish I had a show and a free Rolls Royce to tart around in. Barrett Jackson will be showing this Silver Shadow at the 2014 Las Vegas edition auction. The Johnny Cash Show lasted a few years and Johnny opened each show with members of his own troupe, such as June Carter Cash, Carter Family, The Statler brothers, Carl Perks and the Tennessee Three.

1970 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

Therefore, what is so special about this Rolls Royce, besides being owned by the awesome Johnny Cash? Great Britain produced the Sliver Shadow from 1965 to 1980. This luxury car used a monocoque chassis and it arrived from Crewe, England in a variety of styles. It was also known as the Silver Wraith 2. Through 1965-1970, it featured a 6230 cc L410 V8, interesting to note here that the L410 V8 is in production still.  After 1970 and through 1980 the 6750 replaced the older 6230, it was a new variation. This car boosted a four speed automatic.

Let’s Make a Deal on the Rolls

There was a Pawn Stars episode involving the Shadow. The team at the show refused to purchase the car at $200,000. After consulting a bike specialist, this car was reported to be a mere $50,000. There is a problem with this picture; the car is a Rolls-Royce and not a Toyota and two it was owned by Johnny Cash. Therefore, it is remains to be seen what the car goes for at the auction. The auction is scheduled September 26 in Las Vegas. What would you pay for the car? I know if I had the cash, my bid would be more than $50,000 for it.
